Tom Butterworth is a British screenwriter and television writer. He was born in 1966 in London.

He has collaborated frequently with his brother Jez Butterworth on films including *Mojo* (1997) and *Birthday Girl* (2001). His other film credits include the screenplay for *The Last Legion* (2007).

Butterworth has written for numerous television series, including episodes of *Hustle*, *Ashes to Ashes*, *Fortitude* and *Tin Star*. He co-created *Britannia* (2018–2021) with his brother and served as showrunner for the second series of *Gangs of London* (2020). He is the creator of the upcoming series *Kill Jackie* (2026).
