## Biography

Tom Rowe (1921–2004) was an American screenwriter. He wrote the screenplay, with Gary Goddard, for the adventure film *Tarzan, the Ape Man* (1981).

Rowe contributed the story for Disney's animated feature *The Aristocats* (1970). He also wrote screenplays for *The Green Slime* (1968) and *The Light at the Edge of the World* (1971), and several episodes of the television series *Fantasy Island*.

Born in Los Angeles, he attended UCLA and Michigan State University. During the US occupation of Japan he served as General Douglas MacArthur's chief translator. In the 1950s he contributed film reviews to *Variety* before becoming a screenwriter. He lived in Paris and on the Greek island of Andros, where he died.
