Tom Savini is an American actor, prosthetic makeup artist, film director and stunt performer. Born on 3 November 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he trained in makeup effects and began working in film in the 1970s.

He is known for his special effects makeup on *Dawn of the Dead* (1978), *Friday the 13th* (1980), *Creepshow* (1982), *Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter* (1984) and *Day of the Dead* (1985). Savini directed the 1990 remake of *Night of the Living Dead* and played Sex Machine in *From Dusk Till Dawn* (1996). He has one credited costume design role.
