## Biography

Tom Troupe (1928–2025) was an American actor and writer. Born in North Kansas City, Missouri, he served in the Korean War, for which he received a Bronze Star, and studied acting with Uta Hagen at the Herbert Berghof Studio in New York in the early 1950s.

He made his Broadway debut in 1957 as Peter van Daan in the original production of *The Diary of Anne Frank*. Primarily a stage performer, he appeared in numerous plays including *The Lion in Winter*, *The Gin Game* and *Father's Day*. He co-founded the Los Angeles acting school The Faculty with Charles Nelson Reilly.

Troupe appeared in supporting roles in films such as *The Devil's Brigade* (1968), *Kelly's Heroes* (1970) and *My Own Private Idaho* (1991). His many television credits include episodes of *Star Trek* (1967), *Mission: Impossible* (1967), *Cheers* (1986), *Frasier* (1995) and *ER* (1998). He was married to actress Carole Cook from 1964 until her death in 2023; the couple received the 2002 L.A. Ovation Award for Career Achievement.
