## Biography

Tómas Gislason is a Danish editor, writer and director. Born on 29 July 1961 in Copenhagen, he graduated as an editor from the National Film School of Denmark in 1982, having been admitted at the age of 18.

He edited several of Lars von Trier's student films and continued the collaboration on feature films, serving as editor and co-writer on *The Element of Crime* (1984), for which he received a Robert Award. He later worked as script consultant on *Breaking the Waves* (1996) and in other capacities on *Europa* (1991) and *Antichrist* (2009).

Gislason made his directorial debut with the documentary *Fra hjertet til hånden* (1994), a portrait of Jørgen Leth, and has since directed further documentaries including *Den højeste straf* (2000). In 2001 he founded the production company Funk Film.
