## Biography

Tomisaburō Wakayama was a Japanese actor. Born Masaru Okumura on 1 September 1929 in the Tokyo area, he died of heart failure on 2 April 1992 in Kyoto.

He is best known for playing Ogami Ittō in the six *Lone Wolf and Cub* samurai films (1972–1974). He also appeared as the yakuza boss Sugai in Ridley Scott's *Black Rain* (1989). Wakayama came from a kabuki family and was the brother of actor Shintaro Katsu. His son, Kiichirō Wakayama, is also an actor.
