## Biography

Tonino Delli Colli, also credited as Antonio Delli Colli, was an Italian cinematographer. He began working at Rome's Cinecittà studio in 1938 and received his first cinematography credit in 1943. In 1952 he shot Totò a colori, the first Italian film in colour.

He collaborated extensively with directors including Pier Paolo Pasolini on twelve films such as Accattone (1961), Mamma Roma (1962) and Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1976); Sergio Leone on The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) and Once Upon a Time in America (1984); and Federico Fellini on his final three films. Other notable credits include The Name of the Rose (1986), Bitter Moon (1992), Death and the Maiden (1994) and Life Is Beautiful (1997), his last film.

Delli Colli received multiple David di Donatello awards for best cinematography, including for Life Is Beautiful. He was awarded the American Society of Cinematographers International Achievement Award in 2005 and died in Rome that year.
