## Biography

Tonpei Hidari (1937–2018) was a Japanese actor. He appeared in films and television from the 1960s onwards, with credits in more than 100 productions.

He is known for the role of Risuke in *The Ballad of Narayama* (1983) and Kojo in *Jack and the Beanstalk* (1974). His television work includes the series *Monkey* (1978–1980), in which he also contributed to the soundtrack.

Hidari was born in Kita, Tokyo, on 30 May 1937 and died in Tokyo on 24 February 2018.
