## Biography

Tony Danza, born Anthony Salvatore Iadanza, is an American actor. He played the boxer Tony Banta on the television series *Taxi* (1978–1983).

Danza is also known for starring as Tony Micelli on the sitcom *Who's the Boss?* (1984–1992), for which he received an Emmy Award nomination and four Golden Globe Award nominations. In 1998 he won the People's Choice Award for Favourite Male Performer in a New Television Series for his work on *The Tony Danza Show*. Before his acting career he was a professional boxer and earned a degree from the University of Dubuque.
