## Biography

Tony Smith is a British music manager and film producer. Born John Anthony Smith in January 1945 in England, he began his career promoting concerts with acts including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Who. In 1977 he co-founded the Hit & Run Music Publishing company with Jon Crawley. He has managed Genesis and the solo careers of Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks, and later co-managed Nick Mason.

Smith expanded into film production through Hit and Run Productions, established with Hilary Shor. His credits as producer include *Eye of the Beholder* (1999) and *Children of Men* (2006). In 2000 he received the Peter Grant Award from the Music Managers Forum.
