We were moved by the warmth between Kiki, Ibrahim Ahmed dit Pino’s Kidane and Layla Walet Mohamed’s Toya, because they made the family matter before the film asked us to worry about it.

Abderrahmane Sissako gets something valuable from Kiki by allowing her to belong to an ensemble without making every scene a demonstration of suffering. Toulou Kiki is a Nigerien actress and singer. Born on 1 January 1983 in Agadez, she is a member of the Tuareg music group Kel Assouf.

She played Satima in the 2014 film *Timbuktu*, directed by Abderrahmane Sissako. For the role she received a nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the 11th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Kiki has also appeared in the films *Tegnap* (2018) and *Midwives* (2023).
