## Biography

Tracey Deer is a Mohawk director, writer and producer from Kahnawake, Quebec, Canada. She graduated from Dartmouth College’s Film Studies programme and began her career in documentary filmmaking.

Deer is known for directing episodes of the series *Outlander* (2014), *Hudson & Rex* (2019) and *Three Pines* (2022). She wrote episodes of *Anne with an E* (2017) and directed the feature film *Beans* (2020). Earlier work includes the documentary series and drama *Mohawk Girls* (2010–2017), for which she shared showrunning duties.

Her documentaries include *Club Native* (2008), for which she became the first Mohawk woman to win a Gemini Award. She has received two Gemini Awards in total and other festival honours.
