## Biography

Trevor Paglen is an American artist, geographer and cinematographer. He studied at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a BA in religious studies and a PhD in geography, and received an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Paglen contributed cinematography to the 2014 documentary *Citizenfour*, directed by Laura Poitras, alongside Kirsten Johnson and others. His wider practice examines state secrecy, surveillance and military infrastructure through photography, sculpture and writing. He has received awards including a MacArthur Fellowship in 2017 and the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize in 2016.
