Ubaldo Arata was an Italian cinematographer. He was born on 23 March 1895 in Ovada, Piedmont, and died on 7 December 1947 in Rome. Arata worked on more than one hundred films between 1918 and his death.

He began in the silent era and contributed to the first Italian sound film, *The Song of Love* (1930). During the 1930s he photographed several films under the Fascist regime, including *Scipione l'africano* (1937) and *Luciano Serra, Pilot* (1938). Arata served as cinematographer on Roberto Rossellini's *Rome, Open City* (1945) and helped secure distribution support for the production. After the war he worked on several international co-productions.
