## Biography

Ulla-Britt Söderlund (12 August 1943 – 21 July 1985) was a Swedish costume designer. She studied in London and at the Copenhagen Tailoring Academy (Københavns Tilskærerakademi) in 1962–63 after completing her studentexamen in Växjö.

Her credits include *Hunger* (1966), *The Emigrants* (1971), *The New Land* (1972), *Barry Lyndon* (1975) and *The Simple-Minded Murderer* (1982). She collaborated with directors including Jan Troell and Stanley Kubrick, and worked on the Danish television series *Matador* (1978–79).

In 1976 she shared the Academy Award for Best Costume Design with Milena Canonero for *Barry Lyndon*. She was the first Swedish designer to win in the category and also received a British Academy Film Award nomination for the same film.
