## Biography

Urs Furrer was a Swiss-American cinematographer. He was born on 18 September 1934 in Sumatra, Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia), to Swiss parents, and moved to the United States in the 1950s. He began his career in photography as a youth and later worked on numerous documentaries and industrial films before transitioning to feature films.

Furrer served as director of photography on *Shaft* (1971), *Shaft's Big Score!* (1972) and *The Seven-Ups* (1973). His other credits include *Desperate Characters* (1971), *Where the Lilies Bloom* (1974) and the posthumous *Birch Interval* (1976). He died on 30 August 1975 in Detroit, Michigan, aged 40.
