Valerie Curtin is an American actress and screenwriter. Born on 31 March 1945 in Jackson Heights, New York, she is the daughter of radio actor Joseph Curtin and a cousin of actress Jane Curtin. She attended Lake Erie College.

Curtin began her writing career in the 1970s with an episode of the television series *The Mary Tyler Moore Show*. She co-wrote the screenplays for *...And Justice for All* (1979), which received an Academy Award nomination, *Inside Moves* (1980), *Best Friends* (1982) and *Toys* (1992), often in collaboration with her then-husband Barry Levinson, to whom she was married from 1975 to 1982.

Her acting credits include the role of Vera in *Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore* (1974), Miss Milland in *All the President's Men* (1976), and appearances in *Silver Streak* (1976), *Silent Movie* (1976), *Down and Out in Beverly Hills* (1986) and the series *ER* (1994) and *Frasier* (1993).
