## Biography

Vanessa Place is an American writer, poet and criminal appellate attorney. She has written for television series including *Xena: Warrior Princess* (2001), *Hercules: The Legendary Journeys* (1999), *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit* (2003), *Young Hercules* (1998–1999) and *The Legend of Tarzan* (2001).

Place earned a BA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, an MFA from Antioch University and a JD from Boston University. She co-directs the Los Angeles-based Les Figues Press, which publishes experimental writing, and has published numerous books of poetry, prose and conceptual writing, including *La Medusa* (2008) and the *Tragodía* trilogy.
