## Biography

Vasiliy Rakhals was a Russian production designer and art director in Soviet cinema. He worked as art director on Sergei Eisenstein's *Strike* (1925) and made an uncredited contribution to *Battleship Potemkin* (1925). He also collaborated on *The General Line* (1929).

Rakhals studied at the Odessa Art School and initially worked as a theatre artist before entering the film industry around 1915. His credits include *Luch smerti* (1925) and *Bed and Sofa* (1927). He died on 15 June 1942.
