## Biography

Vasyl Krychevskyi was a Ukrainian production designer, architect and artist. He trained in architecture and drawing at the Kharkiv Technical Railway School and began working as an assistant to a Kharkiv architect in the 1890s.

He is credited as production designer or art director on numerous Ukrainian silent and early sound films made at VUFKU studios, including *Zvenyhora* (1928), *Earth* (1930) and *Nazar Stodolia* (1937). Krychevskyi also designed the Poltava Zemstvo building (1903–1908) and the coat of arms of the Ukrainian People's Republic (1918). He died in Caracas, Venezuela, on 15 November 1952.
