## Biography

Vera Santamaria is a Canadian television writer and producer. Born and raised in Toronto, she studied at Toronto Metropolitan University and began her career writing for Canadian series including *Degrassi: The Next Generation* and *Little Mosque on the Prairie*. She co-created and executive produced *How to Be Indie* (2009).

She later moved to the United States, where her credits include writing episodes of *Community* (2009) and *BoJack Horseman* (2014), as well as work on *PEN15* (2019), for which she served as executive producer and co-showrunner on the second season and received an Emmy nomination. Other credits include *Orange Is the New Black*, *Schitt's Creek*, *Playing House*, *Ms. Marvel* and *Roar* (2022). She is co-showrunner and executive producer of *How to Die Alone* (2024).
