## Biography

Verree Teasdale was an American stage and film actress. Born in Spokane, Washington, she trained for the stage and made her Broadway debut in 1924 in *The Youngest*. She appeared regularly on Broadway until 1932, including a co-starring role in Somerset Maugham's *The Constant Wife* with Ethel Barrymore.

Her first film was *Syncopation* (1929). She played Hippolyta in the 1935 Warner Bros. adaptation of *A Midsummer Night's Dream*. Teasdale appeared in other films through the 1930s and 1940s, often in supporting roles in comedies. She was married to actor Adolphe Menjou from 1935 until his death in 1963; the couple appeared together in films including *The Milky Way* (1936) and co-hosted a syndicated radio programme in the late 1940s and early 1950s. She was active until around 1950.
