## Biography

Victor French (1934–1989) was an American actor and director. The son of a stuntman, he began his career with uncredited work and guest roles in westerns, appearing more than twenty times on *Gunsmoke* before directing five episodes of the series.

He is best known for playing Isaiah Edwards on *Little House on the Prairie* (1974–1983), Mark Gordon on *Highway to Heaven* (1984–1989), and Roy Mobey on the sitcom *Carter Country* (1977–1979). His film credits include *An Officer and a Gentleman* (1982) as Joe Pokrifki. French also directed episodes of *Little House on the Prairie* and other series, and won a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for a stage production of *12 Angry Men*.
