## Biography

Victor Millan was the stage name of American actor and academic Joseph Brown. Born on 1 August 1920 in East Los Angeles, California, to Mexican immigrant parents, he served as a sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps during the Second World War before earning bachelor's and master's degrees in theatre arts from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Millan appeared in more than eighty film and television roles between 1952 and 1989. His credits include *Giant* (1956), *Touch of Evil* (1958) as Manelo Sanchez, *Walk the Proud Land* (1956), *The FBI Story* (1959), *Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze* (1975) and *Scarface* (1983) as Ariel Bleyer, as well as guest appearances in series such as *Knight Rider*, *Columbo* and *The Love Boat*.

Alongside his acting career, Brown taught theatre arts at Santa Monica College for many years and later served as dean of its theatre arts department.
