He was born on 11 January 1925 in Moscow and died there on 19 November 1975. He studied at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography under Yuli Raizman, graduating in 1949, and joined the Mosfilm studio. Avdyushko made his screen debut in *The Young Guard* (1948) and appeared in around fifty films. He played the sailor in Miklós Jancsó's *The Red and the White* (1967) and a platoon commander in *The Dawns Here Are Quiet* (1972). He was named Meritorious Artist of the Russian SFSR in 1965 and People's Artist of the Russian SFSR in 1974.
