## Biography

Vincent Korda was a Hungarian-born art director and production designer. Born on 22 June 1897 in Túrkeve, then in Austria-Hungary, he worked initially as an artist before becoming an art director in 1931 and settling in Britain in 1933. He was the younger brother of film producers Alexander Korda and Zoltan Korda.

He is known for his work on films including *Things to Come* (1936), *The Four Feathers* (1939), *The Thief of Bagdad* (1940), *Jungle Book* (1942), *To Be or Not to Be* (1942), *The Fallen Idol* (1948), *The Third Man* (1949) and *The Longest Day* (1962). Korda was nominated for four Academy Awards for art direction and won once, for *The Thief of Bagdad*. He died in London on 4 January 1979.
