## Biography

Virginia Jencks was an American actress. She appeared as Ruth Barnes in the 1954 film *Salt of the Earth*, directed by Herbert J. Biberman, in which many roles were played by non-professional actors including members of a New Mexico mining community and their families.

She was married to Clinton Jencks, who played her on-screen husband Frank Barnes in the same film. Jencks later appeared as herself in the 1982 documentary *A Crime to Fit the Punishment*.
