Vito D'Ambrosio is an Italian-American actor born on 29 December 1957 in Taranto, Italy. His family moved to Chicago via New York City when he was ten. He began in theatre after becoming involved backstage during a high-school production, later studying at Columbia College in Chicago where he worked with founders of the Steppenwolf Theater Company.

D'Ambrosio's film debut came when Brian De Palma cast him as the Bowtie Driver in *The Untouchables* (1987). He is best known for playing Officer Anthony 'Tony' Bellows, later Mayor Anthony Bellows, in both the 1990 television series *The Flash* and the 2014 series of the same name. Other credits include *The Usual Suspects* (1995) as an arresting officer and appearances in series such as *Euphoria*, *Criminal Minds* and *Shameless*.
