## Biography

Vivien Hillgrove, also credited as Vivien Hillgrove Gilliam, is a film editor and sound editor. She has worked in narrative and documentary films for over fifty years and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In the 1980s she served as dialogue editor on *Amadeus* (1984), *The Right Stuff* (1983) and *Blue Velvet* (1986). As picture editor she collaborated with Walter Murch on Philip Kaufman’s *The Unbearable Lightness of Being* (1988) and with Dede Allen on Kaufman’s *Henry & June* (1990). Her documentary credits include multiple films by Lourdes Portillo and Deann Borshay Liem; she won the Best Editing Award at the Asia Pacific Film Festival for *In the Matter of Cha Jung Hee* and co-wrote *First Person Plural*.

Hillgrove has advised Sundance Documentary Composer/Edit Labs, the Latino Producers Academy and Chicken & Egg Pictures. She directed and produced the autobiographical documentary *Vivien’s Wild Ride*.
