## Biography

Vlastimil Harapes (1946–2024) was a Czech actor, dancer and choreographer. He appeared as Kristián, son of the Bishop of Hennau, in František Vláčil’s *Marketa Lazarová* (1967). He also played the Beast in *Panna a netvor* (1978) and featured in films including *Starci na chmelu* (1964) and *Jak vytrhnout velrybě stoličku* (1977).

Harapes trained at the Prague Dance Conservatory, graduating in 1965, and joined the ballet company of the National Theatre in Prague the following year. He became a soloist in 1971 and later served as its artistic director. His stage career included international performances and work as a choreographer and pedagogue.
