## Biography

Vyacheslav Aleksandrovich Ovchinnikov (Russian: Вячеслав Александрович Овчинников) was a Soviet and Russian composer and conductor. He was born on 29 May 1936 in Voronezh and died on 4 February 2019 in Moscow.

He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and composed symphonies, symphonic poems and other orchestral and chamber works. Ovchinnikov scored more than 40 films, including *Ivan's Childhood* (1962), *Andrei Rublev* (1966), *War and Peace* (1968) and *Solaris* (1972). He also worked as a conductor from the 1970s and recorded for the Melodiya label.

In 1986 he was named People's Artist of the RSFSR.
