## Biography

Waldemar Lima was a Brazilian cinematographer. Born in Aracaju, Sergipe, on 11 September 1929, he began his career as a still photographer before moving into film in Bahia. He worked on early Cinema Novo productions and collaborated with directors including Glauber Rocha.

Lima served as director of photography on *Black God, White Devil* (1964). He later photographed and co-directed *Society em Baby-Doll* (1965), and contributed to films such as *O Tropeiro* (1964) and *Bebel, Garota Propaganda* (1968). He also directed, wrote, taught cinematography and worked extensively in advertising and documentaries. Lima died in São Paulo on 19 January 2012.
