## Biography

Waldemar Young was an American screenwriter. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 1 July 1878, he died in Hollywood, California, on 30 August 1938.

After working as a journalist for the Salt Lake Herald and San Francisco newspapers, and briefly attending Stanford University, Young entered the film industry around 1917. He wrote for more than eighty films over the following two decades.

His credits include *The Unholy Three* (1925), *The Unknown* (1927), *Island of Lost Souls* (1932), *The Sign of the Cross* (1932), *Love Me Tonight* (1932), *Cleopatra* (1934), *Peter Ibbetson* (1935) and *The Lives of a Bengal Lancer* (1935). He was a grandson of Brigham Young and often collaborated with Tod Browning and Cecil B. DeMille.
