## Biography

Walter Burke (1908–1984) was an American character actor who appeared in stage, film and television productions over five decades. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he began his career as a child actor on Broadway, with early appearances including Up in Central Park and Major Barbara.

Burke made his film debut in The Naked City (1948) and gained notice for his role as Sugar Boy in All the King's Men (1949). He went on to appear in more than twenty further films, including How the West Was Won (1962) and My Fair Lady (1964). From the 1950s onwards he worked extensively in television, with guest roles in series such as The Twilight Zone, Bonanza, Bewitched, Batman and The Munsters.
