## Biography

Walter Carvalho (born 1947) is a Brazilian cinematographer and director. He was born in João Pessoa, Paraíba, and entered the Brazilian film industry in 1973.

He is known for his cinematography on *Central Station* (1998), *Behind the Sun* (2001), *Madame Satã* (2002), *Carandiru* (2003) and *Cazuza: Time Doesn't Stop* (2004), the last of which he also co-directed. He has directed other films including *Budapest* (2009) and has worked extensively in television. Carvalho is the father of cinematographer Lula Carvalho and the brother of filmmaker Vladimir Carvalho.
