## Biography

Walter J. Harvey (born Walter Frederick William Pape) was a British cinematographer. He was born on 9 February 1903 in Hornsey, London, and died in 1979 in London. He was the elder brother of actress Lilian Harvey and was married to Nancy Sherry.

Harvey worked as a director of photography on numerous British films from the 1930s onwards, including *Bulldog Drummond at Bay* (1937), *Whispering Smith Hits London* (1952) and *The Quatermass Xperiment* (1955). In the 1960s he contributed to television series such as *The Saint* and *The Avengers* (credited variously as Walter Harvey or Jimmy Harvey). He was a member of the British Society of Cinematographers.
