## Biography

Walter Reimann (2 June 1887 – 8 November 1936) was a German painter and art director. Born in Berlin, he was associated with the Expressionist group linked to the magazine *Der Sturm*.

Reimann worked in film from 1919, initially as a set painter. With Hermann Warm and Walter Röhrig he created the distorted, painted sets and costumes for *The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari* (1920). He continued as a production designer on German films including *The Plague of Florence* (1919) and *Algol* (1920), and briefly worked in Hollywood in the late 1920s. He died in Bad Godesberg.
