## Biography

Walter Röhrig was a German production designer and art director. He trained as a painter and stage designer in Berlin and Zurich, and was associated with the Expressionist group Der Sturm before entering film in 1919.

He is best known for his work on *The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari* (1920), designed with Hermann Warm and Walter Reimann, and for his long collaboration with Robert Herlth on films including *The Last Laugh* (1924), *Tartuffe* (1925), *Faust* (1926) and *Destiny* (1921). He continued working in German cinema through the 1930s and 1940s.

Röhrig was born in Berlin on 13 April 1887 and died in Caputh on 6 December 1945.
