## Biography

Walter Scott Herndon was an American art director and production designer. He began his career in television, working as an art director on series including *Playhouse 90* (1956–1959) and *Climax!* (1957).

Herndon moved into feature films in the late 1960s and 1970s. His credits include art direction on *The Last Picture Show* (1971) and *Blacula* (1972), and production design on *Sounder* (1972), *Mother, Jugs & Speed* (1976), *Semi-Tough* (1977), *Norma Rae* (1979), *Sharky's Machine* (1981) and *A Soldier's Story* (1984). He received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his television work.

Herndon was born on 7 February 1927 in Atascadero, California, and died on 21 January 1984 in Centralia, Washington.
