## Biography

Walter Shenson (1919–2000) was an American film producer. Born in San Francisco, he attended Stanford University and began his career as a publicist for Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures before moving to Britain in the mid-1950s to work as an independent producer.

He produced *The Mouse That Roared* (1959), starring Peter Sellers, and was approached by United Artists to produce the Beatles' first feature film. Shenson produced *A Hard Day's Night* (1964) and *Help!* (1965), both directed by Richard Lester. He secured a deal under which rights to the films reverted to him after 15 years. Later credits include *Reuben, Reuben* (1983) and *Ruby Jean and Joe* (1996).
