## Biography

Warren Casey (20 April 1935 – 8 November 1988) was an American theatre composer, lyricist, writer and actor. With Jim Jacobs, he wrote the book, music and lyrics for the stage musical *Grease*, which premiered in Chicago in 1971 before transferring to Broadway.

The 1978 film adaptation of *Grease* used the score from the musical. Casey received a Tony Award nomination for Best Book of a Musical. He had previously worked as an actor in Chicago theatre companies and held various jobs including retail work before focusing on writing.
