## Biography

Warren Hymer was an American actor who appeared in more than 120 films between 1929 and 1946. Born Edgar Warren Hymer in New York City on 25 February 1906, he was the son of playwright John B. Hymer and actress Eleanor Kent. He attended Yale University and had stage experience, including a role in the 1928 Broadway play *The Grey Fox*.

Hymer typically played supporting roles as tough or comic characters, such as gangsters, boxers and sailors. Among his credits are *Mr. Deeds Goes to Town* (1936), *You Only Live Once* (1937), *Bluebeard's 8th Wife* (1938), *Destry Rides Again* (1939) as Bugs Watson, *Meet John Doe* (1941) and *Since You Went Away* (1944). He died in Los Angeles on 25 March 1948.
