## Biography

Wayne Rogers was an American actor best known for playing Captain 'Trapper' John McIntyre in the CBS series *M*A*S*H* (1972–1975). He also starred as Dr Charley Michaels in the comedy series *House Calls* (1979–1982).

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Rogers graduated from Princeton University with a degree in history in 1954 and served as a naval officer before beginning his acting career. Early television work included guest roles in series such as *Gunsmoke*, *Combat!* and *The Fugitive*, and he appeared in films including *Cool Hand Luke* (1967).

After leaving *M*A*S*H* following a contract dispute, Rogers maintained a career in television and later became a successful investor and financial commentator, appearing regularly on the Fox News programme *Cashin' In*.
