Whitman Mayo was an American actor. He was born in New York City on 15 November 1930 and died in Atlanta, Georgia, on 22 May 2001.

Mayo began acting with the New Lafayette Theatre in New York. He became known for his role as Grady Wilson on the television series *Sanford and Son* (1972–1977), a part he originated after a one-off appearance. He also appeared in the spin-offs *Grady* and *Sanford Arms*. Later credits include *Boyz n the Hood* (1991) as The Old Man, as well as guest roles in series such as *Full House*, *ER*, *Kenan & Kel* and *Family Matters*. In later years he taught drama at Clark Atlanta University.
