## Biography

Will Stanton (born William Sidney Stanton) was an English-born American character actor. He began his screen career in the late 1920s with short films for Hal Roach Studios and made his feature debut in the 1928 silent film *Sadie Thompson*.

He appeared in approximately 70 films, mostly in supporting or uncredited roles. Among his credits are *Cavalcade* (1933) as Tommy Jolly, *Mutiny on the Bounty* (1935) as Portsmouth Joe, *Sergeant York* (1941) as a Cockney soldier, *The Ghost and Mrs. Muir* (1947) as a porter, and *Adam's Rib* (1949) as a taxicab driver. His final screen work was a 1954 television episode of *Schlitz Playhouse*.

Stanton died in Los Angeles on 18 December 1969 and was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. He was married to Rosalind May.
