## Biography

Willard Robertson was an American actor and writer. He appeared in more than 140 films between 1924 and 1948, typically in supporting roles as authority figures such as sheriffs, military officers, judges and lawyers.

He began his career as a lawyer in Texas before turning to acting. Robertson appeared on Broadway in 16 plays between 1907 and 1930. His film credits include *I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang* (1932), *The Ox-Bow Incident* (1943) as Sheriff Risley, *Remember the Night* (1940) and *Here Comes the Navy* (1934) as Executive Officer. He also wrote plays and the novel *Moon Tide* (1940), which was adapted into the 1942 film *Moontide*.
