## Biography

William Asher was an American television and film director, producer and screenwriter. He directed episodes of *The Twilight Zone* (1959) and was one of the most prolific early television directors, working on more than two dozen series.

Asher began directing *I Love Lucy* in 1952 and directed 110 of its 179 episodes. He later directed and produced *Bewitched* (1964), which starred his wife Elizabeth Montgomery. He also directed episodes of *Our Miss Brooks*, *The Patty Duke Show*, *Gidget* and *Alice*, and a series of beach party films including *Beach Party* (1963).

Asher won an Emmy Award for directing *Bewitched* in 1966 and was nominated for a Directors Guild of America award for *I Love Lucy*.
