## Biography

William Cronjager (1930–1995) was an American cinematographer who worked primarily in television. Born in Queens, New York, he came from a family of cinematographers that included his father Henry Cronjager Jr, uncle Edward Cronjager and grandfather Henry Cronjager. He began his career as an assistant cameraman on films including *Oh, Men! Oh, Women!* (1957) and *The Hustler* (1961).

Cronjager moved to television in the 1960s and served as director of photography on series such as the final seasons of *Peyton Place* (1967–1969), *Columbo*, *Hart to Hart* and *The Dukes of Hazzard*. He shot 27 episodes of *Hill Street Blues* (1981–1982), winning a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography for a Series for the pilot "Hill Street Station". His later credits included one episode of *Miami Vice* (1985) and several television films; his final work was the 1988 TV movie *Broken Angel*.
