## Biography

William Dewhurst was an English stage actor who appeared in a number of British films in the mid-1930s. Born in Manchester, he had a long career in theatre before transitioning to cinema later in life.

He was cast by Alfred Hitchcock as The Professor in the 1936 thriller *Sabotage*. Dewhurst went on to play supporting roles in films including *Toilers of the Sea* (1936), *Dark Journey* (1937), *Bulldog Drummond at Bay* (1937) and *Victoria the Great* (1937). Several of his later credits, such as *Sailing Along* (1938) and *21 Days Together* (1940), were released after his death.

Dewhurst died in London on 26 October 1937.
