## Biography

William McElroy Dozier was an American film and television producer, writer and actor. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he graduated from Creighton University with a law degree before entering the entertainment industry.

In the late 1940s, Dozier co-founded Rampart Productions with his then wife Joan Fontaine. The company produced *Letter from an Unknown Woman* (1948), on which he served as executive producer. He later held executive roles at CBS and Screen Gems. In 1964 he founded Greenway Productions and developed the *Batman* television series (1966–1968), serving as executive producer; the series spawned the 1966 feature film on which he is credited as producer. He also produced *The Green Hornet* (1966–1967).

Dozier died in Santa Monica, California, in 1991.
